Friday funny: End of the world again

OK, so this is a clip for a new Roland Emmerich film, which means it can only be unintentionally funny.

If you thought the disaster film revival of the 90s was over, you haven't seen the trailer for 2012. The appetite Americans have for seeing some of their most beloved buildings destroyed seems to have no bounds. And the destruction must be ever more creative. Seeing the ridiculous one-upmanship on display here, you can imagine how the creative meetings for the movie must have gone:

OK, we flooded Manhattan in The Day After Tomorrow, so in this flick, we should just slide it into the ocean. And yes, the Notre Dame Cathedral was hit in Armageddon, but nobody has seen the Vatican being flattened. Best of all, nobody has EVER destroyed the White House on film before. What? Oh right, we did do that, in Independence Day. So here's an idea: let's destroy the White House again...BY DROPPING AN AIRCRAFT CARRIER ON IT!!!
